Why we verify the lead guest

Before paying for a direct booking, the lead guest verifies a government-issued photo ID and a matching selfie through Stripe Identity. Gregg or Laura Gaviglio reviews the result and checks that it matches the named guest who will stay. Verification helps prevent impersonation; it is not a background check or a guarantee of admission. Host approval and the other booking requirements still apply.

What we collect

You submit your documents directly to Stripe. Stripe processes the ID and selfie, including facial comparison, and presents its own consent and privacy information. Authorized hosts can review verification information in Stripe.

FrontDesk does not store your ID images, selfie images, document number, birth date or biometric templates. It stores the verification reference, status, consent and review times, and host actions linked to your booking. We do not use identity verification for marketing or sell your identity information. Please do not email us ID photographs.

How long we retain verification information

We request deletion of the identity documents and verification details available to us through Stripe within 30 days after checkout, or within 7 days after an unbooked offer expires, is withdrawn or declined, or a reservation is cancelled. An accepted reservation with payment due later remains a reservation; its original offer acceptance deadline does not trigger deletion.

A documented legal preservation requirement may delay a deletion request. We preserve only the relevant information and review the need regularly. Stripe’s redaction process is not instantaneous, and its independent processing and retention are governed by Stripe’s privacy information. Deleting the verification information accessible to us does not promise deletion of all data Stripe independently holds.

Minimal booking, payment and security audit records are kept separately. They contain no ID or selfie images. Removing a verification record does not erase payment records or cancel a reservation.
